Conflict Transformation

These are projects related to value-based conflicts in Central Europe. We understand that many issues we are struggling with are not solely a Slovak problem. We collect best practices from around Europe, network important players, train, and learn from our partners.

Conflict Transformation

  • Kurz: CEE Prevent Net

In light of the increasing level of intolerance, discrimination, and group hatred in Europe, the CEE Prevent Net project (2019 - 2020) aimed at safeguarding young people by strengthening their resilience towards these phenomena and their skills to contribute to a peaceful and democratic society.

  • Kurz: European Network for Non-Violence and Dialogue - ENND

The project (2017 - 2018) has connected initiatives around Europe that strive to depolarize society and develop techniques of dialogue among various social groups. We have connected people and organizations working at a grassroots level to ease tensions on value-based issues. How does one discuss refugees, LGBTI, Roma, or national identities in Europe? We are collecting the best practices and best people, who are always trying.

  • Kurz: PROTEUS

Protecting EU Values and Fundamental Rights through Public Participation and Civil Society Assistance in Central Europe

The growing social polarization and political illiberalism in the EU, but especially in the Central European Member States, pose great risks to civil society, which are increasingly evident through tighter controls on CSOs, cuts to their financial independence, intimidation of civic activists, and the portrayal of civil society as a public enemy. All this puts at risk a strong and dynamic civil society which is a fundamental requirement for a liberal and pluralistic democracy.

  • Kurz: Panorama: The Pan-European Observatory for Mitigation of Hate Speech

The PANORAMA project (2022 - 2023) analyzed online hate speech through its patterns and dynamics with the aim to counteract hate speech worldwide. It breached the challenges of addressing hate speech, which lay in the lack of understanding of its online trends and characteristics.
